2023 Tax Rate Set

The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County M.U.D. #185 (The District) voted to decrease the MUD Property Tax Rate to $0.815 per $100 valuation for the 2023 tax year. In addition to the reduction in the tax rate, The District also increased the homestead exemption from 10% for 2022 to 15% for 2023. Please keep in mind this information is for The District only.

The district has authorized Bob Leared Interests, the tax assessor-collector, to mail duplicate tax statements in January 2024. These statements will be mailed to homeowners whose original tax statement was requested by and mailed to a mortgage company AND remains unpaid at the time of the January mailing. If a DUPLICATE TAX STATEMENT is received, this is a reminder to contact the mortgage company to ensure timely payment of the MUD taxes by the due date of January 31, 2024.

Payment of taxes can be made online at www.bli-tax.com. There is an additional processing fee when making online payments, however the fee for paying by e-check is only $1.00. Receipts are also available on the website.

This website is not associated with any DOXO website.

If paying using a DOXO website the processing fee will be higher.

In addition to paying online, payment can be made by calling OPAY Customer Service at (800)487-4567 between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm CST. Select the customer service option, then tell the representative payment is for TEXAS taxes. If a 2023 Fort Bend County M.U.D. #185 tax statement has not been received by the end of November, and the account can not be located online at www.bli-tax.com, please contact the tax assessor-collector at 713-932-9011 to discuss the tax account. Failure to receive a tax statement will not extend the January 31, 2024 deadline for payment, and does not meet the legal requirements to waive penalties or interest which will be added if payment is not made in full before February 1st.

Updates or changes to individual account mailing address, property ownership or property exemptions must be made with Fort Bend Central Appraisal District.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Rate

The FORT BEND COUNTY M.U.D. #185 will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2023 on September 20, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at 9 Greenway Plaza, Suite 1000, Houston, Texas 77046. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the tax rate that is adopted and on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property. The change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in the taxable value of all other property determines the distribution of the tax burden among all property owners.

Visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information about proposed tax rates and scheduled public hearings of each entity that taxes your property.
