Notice of Water System Flushing

Flushing of the District’s water lines will be performed beginning on Monday, February 6, 2023. The flushing may continue until Friday, February 10, 2023.

During these days, you may notice discoloring of the water due to mineral sediment that is being flushed out of the system. The sediment is made of naturally occurring minerals. This sediment can cause permanent staining of clothing and some porous surfaces.

Please check the water before washing clothes or filling your pool or spa.

This flushing is being conducted to perform routine maintenance of the District’s fire hydrants and water mains. We expect to complete the work in the timeframe mentioned above; however, discolored water may persist for a short time after the work is complete.

If you have questions about this or other issues related to your water or sewer service please call us at 832-467-1599 or visit our website at www.edpwater.com.

Thank you for your patience while this important work is being performed.

2022 Tax Rate Set

The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County M.U.D. #185 (the district) voted to decrease the MUD Property Tax Rate to $0.85 per $100 valuation for the 2022 tax year.  Please keep in mind this rate is for the district only.

The district has authorized Bob Leared Interests, the tax assessor-collector, to mail duplicate tax statements in January 2023. These statements will be mailed to homeowners whose original tax statement was requested by and mailed to a mortgage company AND remains unpaid at the time of the January mailing.  If a DUPLICATE TAX STATEMENT is received, this is a reminder to contact the mortgage company to ensure timely payment of the MUD taxes by the due date of January 31, 2023.

Payment of taxes can be made online at www.bli-tax.com.   There is an additional processing fee when making online payments, however the fee for paying by e-check is only $1.00.  Receipts are also available on the website.

This website is not associated with any DOXO website.

If paying using a DOXO website the processing fee will be higher.

In addition to paying online, payment can be made by calling OPAY Customer Service at (800)487-4567 between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm CST.  Select the customer service option, then tell the representative payment is for TEXAS taxes.  The entire account number will need to be provided which begins with “369,” and is located on the tax statement.  There is an additional processing fee when making payments by phone.  E-checks can not be processed by phone.

The 2022 tax statements will include an individual QR code this year.  Scanning the QR code will be a direct link to that particular account on the Bob Leared Interests website.

If you have not received your 2022 Fort Bend County M.U.D. #185 tax statement by the end of November and are unable to locate the account online at www.bli-tax.com, please contact the tax assessor-collector at 713-932-9011 to discuss the tax account.  Failure to receive a tax statement will not extend the due date of January 31, 2023, and does not meet the legal requirements to waive penalties or interest which will be added if payment is not made in full by the due date.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Rate

The FORT BEND COUNTY M.U.D. #185 will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2022 on September 21, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at 9 Greenway Plaza, Suite 1000, Houston, TX 77046. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the tax rate that is adopted and on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property. The change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in the taxable value of all other property determines the distribution of the tax burden among all property owners.

Visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information about proposed tax rates and scheduled public hearings of each entity that taxes your property.
