Trash Collection Update – August 30 at 3:30pm

From Wes Noonan, Board Director:

All, we have a update on trash service that has some positives and negatives. Let’s start with the negatives.

There will be no trash or heavy trash service on Thursday Aug 31. The next heavy trash service will be Thursday Sept 28th. If we can make something happen sooner, we will let everyone know but for now plan on no heavy trash pickup until the end of September.

WCA has also decided to suspend recycling for the next 2 weeks. Based on our schedule next recycling service will be Monday September 18th. They might be able to go sooner, but plan for the 18th.

On the positive side, we will have TRASH ONLY service on Labor Day, Sept 4th. This is normal trash only, so no heavy trash and no recycling.

If things change regarding recycling or heavy trash services we will update everyone.

WCA Trash Collection Delays

To all WCA Houston Area Customers,

WCA collection services is operating, but due to the flooding conditions in Harris/Fort Bend County and the potential for more severe weather coming, some areas may experience delays or may not be serviced. The rivers and bayous in this region are at major flood stage levels, which are causing road closures. This could prevent WCA from reaching certain areas or delays due to traffic from people being re-routed. We regret any inconvenience caused by this event.

For the remainder of the week we will evaluate and determine whether we can safely provide collection to WCA customers who are scheduled for service. Once we have a better picture of weather and road conditions we will provide another announcement regarding service.

Please feel free to pass this along as needed and please be safe.

Sincerely,

Trevor Royal
WCA, Region II Municipal Sales Manager

No Wipes in the Pipes!

patty_potty_20150705People are flushing all kinds of things down the toilet! It’s not a trash can, you know! Some paper products and wipes are advertised as ‘flushable’ but they aren’t. Sure, they will flush down, but they won’t flush OUT.

Wipes won’t decompose… they get caught up in wastewater treatment plant screens and filters — and that costs money to clear and repair!

Please help protect water quality and our environment — and prevent costly water treatment plant repairs, as well!

Take the pledge…. NO WIPES IN THE PIPES!!!
